- Sherwood has a variety of shops such as, charity shops, independent businesses and care homes. However, public sector jobs [city hospital and schools) are the main source of income because backstreet business would not sustain enough. Therefore, it lacks variety of employment opportunities.

- Great transport links: there are a wider range of buses available and it can take 10 minutes to get to the city centre, making a livable place for commuters to the city centre. For this reason people live to take advantage of working in the city centre due to the good transport links.
- Bus service providers includes; Nottingham City Transport [15,16,17,40,56,58,59,87,88,89 and L9], Nottingham Community Transport [L8], Trent Barton and Stagecoach East Midlands.
- Car parks are free which encourages people to go shopping in Sherwood. However, a wider range of transport can be an issue in relation to pollution.
- Sherwood has a reasonable economy, and an appealing place to live which meets individual daily needs endeavours. It has a wide range of shops available for the residents to access without going to the city centre such as, several charity shops, The Co-operative, Wilkinsons, Boots,Lioyds Pharmacy, post office, Banks,newsagents, butchers, dentists and Gp, hairdressers, cafes and variety of restaurants, several pubs, stationers and Estate agents. However, individuals can choose to go to town to meet their needs.
